ROSSET MEYER GEIGER
Three St. Gallers with one passion: Jazz. Pianist Josquin Rosset (born 1982), bassist Gabriel Meyer (born 1980) and drummer Jan Geiger (born 1981), all grew up in the same city, but had to make their own journeys until they finally got together. They played together for the first time in the funk band "poodlekickin" and really peaked in the rhythm section. They developed the desire to progress as a Jazz trio. In 1999, the St. Gallers founded the trio rosset meyer geiger. After a four year break, they got together again in the summer of 2007, for an appearance for Josquin Rosset’s concert diploma. The Jury gave the top grade. Josquin Rosset also received the recognitions award from the Ida and Albert Flersheim Foundation. Since then, the trio rehearse every week, have extended and refined their repertoire and give regular concerts. It was their greatest wish to bring out a CD. In September 2009, Josquin Rosset, Gabriel Meyer and Jan Geiger travelled to Udine (Italy) and played their repertoire in the studio "Artesuono" with Stefano Amerio. We now have the CD. The three musicians have reached another milestone.

"This piano trio is simply fantastic. Everything is just right. The three musicians have been together for many years to become a highly organic unit. An amazingly dense, but never frantic-looking flow of ideas streams from the first to the last minute of this album. The music is full of warmth, which in today’s time of "cool generation" has unfortunately become increasingly rare. A great clarity and honesty is a top priority with everything that these three extraordinary musicians present."
Harald Haerter
"Here is music striding forwards. It is packed with ideas and still leaves the listener with a feeling of simplicity and clarity. These three musicians manage this difficult balance effortlessly. Again and again new perspectives appear on their horizon, perspectives are altered and boundaries are moved intuitively. The three musicians guide us through the dynamics of the music and lead us with a sure step into the action of it. In the end it leaves us amazed, and amazement is always the beginning of great music."
Chris Wiesendanger
"rosset meyer geiger have a compelling and original sound. Their refreshing combination of smart compositions with spirited group improvisation promises to keep listeners engaged from start to finish."
Greg Burk
"A wonderful, well-rehearsed trio! Idiosyncratic compositions based on the tradition of Jazz with refreshing ventures into new realms. Convincingly carried out by three young, talented musicians, who make music intelligently without forgetting their hearts."
